Wameesh,(Ken Watts) was born on February 15th 1983 in Port Alberni, BC home of the Tseshaht and Hupacasath First Nations. Ken is the eldest son of Matilda Watts from the Xaxli’p First Nation and the late George Watts from the Tseshaht First Nation as a member of the Nuu-chah-nulth Nations.Ken’s K-12 education took place in Port Alberni, BC and during he was employed by the Tseshaht First Nation in many different fields from archaeological excavator to recreation coordinator. Ken then decided to leave his home community and move to Nanaimo, BC to attend post-secondary school at Malaspina University-College. After four years of study Ken recently finished if Bachelor of Arts Degree

in First Nations Studies and now works for the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) in Victoria as the Youth Conference Coordinator. Wameesh hopes to be a positive role model for our youth, bring youth issues to the political forefront, support other regional youth initiatives, listen to youths’ concerns, create good working relationships with all parties involved, act as a representative to the best of his abilities fro all First Nations in BC.
